The original space pen has dozens of variations, but this is our choice of the best of the best. This version is handcrafted and able to write underwater, over grease, at any angle, upside down, three times longer than the average pen, in extreme temperatures ranging from (-30°F to +250°F), and in zero gravity. When closed, this bullet-shaped Space Pen is the perfect size to carry in your wallet, pocket, purse, car glove box, organizer, or toolbox. When open, it's a full sized, evenly balanced writing instrument.
A bit of history: The original worked flawlessly in zero gravity aboard the first manned Apollo mission in 1968. Five decades later the pens are still flown aboard every manned space flight.
Details: the cap slides on and off and has a ring that can be attached to a carabiner or a keyring; the finish is matte black; length: open 5-1/4", closed 3-3/4"; black ink; medium point. The pen is packaged in a gift box.
The pens are manufactured and assembled in the company's 30,000-square-foot warehouse in Boulder City, Nevada.
Approximately 65 employees create the company’s high-quality writing instruments. “Our whole culture is to treat people with respect and dignity. I know everybody by first and last name. Every job is valuable to the company,” the founder’s son says. Cesar Reveles, one of their plant managers and loyal employee for 27 years notes, "We're a small company, but we're all focused on one thing: making a great product. We’re upholding the whole notion of 'Made in America,' which, I think, still counts."
