The Haunted Looking Glass & Gorey Bat Cufflinks
$108.00
The Haunted Looking Glass is Edward Gorey’s selection of his favorite tales of ghosts, ghouls, and grisly goings-on. It includes stories by Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins, M. R. James, W. W. Jacobs, and L. P. Hartley, among other masters of the fine art of making the flesh creep, all accompanied by Gorey’s inimitable illustrations.
To accompany this classic, we offer these beautiful sterling silver
cufflinks based on a Gorey drawing. They are of good weight with high quality
toggles, and can be worn by both men and women.
A truly unique figure in American art and illustration, Edward Gorey was born in Chicago in 1925 and died at the turn of the millennium. Defying stylistic description, he has been called an eccentric genius and an Edwardian enigma. Gorey’s painstakingly executed, almost etched style is at once recognizable both for its graphic qualities and extraordinary imagery. His art synthesized a love of literature and a genius for the possibilities of pen and ink.
